This is a look at my current blogging gear setup in 2017.
I have a few things that I might add soon, but I am really happy with the current setup.
And it all started with just a cheap laptop, and over the last 9 years I have honed in on some favorite tools to help me speed up the process.
But if we are being honest, you don’t need ANY of this stuff to be successful as a blogger, but it can help you step up your game a bit and enjoy the work a bit more.
Check out the video below for all the details, or just keep scrolling to see everything I have in my office setup.
A look at each item:
Shure SM7B
The SM7B dynamic microphone has a smooth, flat, wide-range frequency response in all professional audio applications. The best mic I have ever owned by far.
Rode PSA1 Swivel Boom Arm
Keep the mic at a comfortable level for speaking or singing while leaving hands free! Pricey for a boom arm, but considerably better than my old one (down below).
Echo Dot
A hands-free, voice-controlled device that uses Alexa to play music, control smart home devices, provide information, read the news, set alarms, and more. Not a necessity by any means, but I love it.
Focusrite Scarlet Solo
I recommend this as they no longer make Tascam US100 which essentially is how I get my mic audio into the mac mini.
Apple Mac Mini
Great machine and plenty powerful for all the apps that I use on a daily basis.
Western Digital External Hard Drive
This is my external HD that I use. It gets the job done.
Halter Dual Monitor Stand
I LOVE having 2 monitors. And this is what makes it all possible while allowing me the flexibility to move them around.
Asus 24” Monitors
Cheap and have been very reliable.
Logitech c920 Webcam
Pretty much the best webcam out there. Highly recommended.
Pyle PMKSH01 Boom Microphone Stand
My old boom arm that now holds the webcam listed above. Not bad at all for the price.
Mic Thread Adapter to Camera Mount
Studs needed for mounting cameras, recorders and other accessories onto microphone stands.
Status Audio HD2 Headphones
My favorite pair of headphones. Truly great sound and a joy to listen to.
KRK Rokit 5 Powered Studio Monitors
Leftover from my music studio, these bad boys sound awesome.
GoPro Hero 4
I don’t use this much, but it is an incredibly versatile and useful camera.
Speaker Wall Mounts
Used to get the speakers up on the wall and off my desk.
Autonomous Sit-Stand Desk
I love standing at work now. And I love this desk. It is awesome.
Cable Management System
These things helped eliminate all the cable mess under the desk.
Under Desk Organizer
Fun little drawer for under the desk.
Retro 1951 Tornado Pen
One of my favorite pens.
Gunnar Computer Glasses
Specially designed lenses featuring proprietary tints and coatings that block high-energy blue light, UV and glare.
Topo Ergodriven Standing Mat
If you stand at your desk, you NEED a good mat. This is the best one I have found so far. You’ll sit less and stand comfortably because it inspires active and varied stances!
Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard
An oldie, but my favorite keyboard that I have ever used.
Razer DeathAdder
Great high-DPI mouse for very precise movements.
Crank Sit-Stand Desk
My old desk that is about to be sold on Craigslist, it is really nice, I just got tired of the crank to raise/lower it.
Herman Miller Aeron
Stupid expensive, but a great chair. Definitely buy used if you can. I think I got mine for 70% off the retail price on Craigslist.
My Leather Bag
All-purpose lightweight soft vintage leather briefcase that has everything I need in a work bag.
Macbook Air
Not my fav, but it gets the job done.
Grid-It Organizer
I love this thing.
Fisher Space Pen
Writes at any angle, even in Zero Gravity. 😉
Canon T3i DSLR Camera
My old DSLR that has been good to me. Ready to upgrade this year, but the T3i has been a great camera.
